Printing Tips and a Freebie!

If you are like me, you print many things on your personal printer.  We all know how much ink costs and we hate to waste it!  I know many of you probably already know and do these things, but I thought I would share a few printing tips with you.  Below the tips you will see a print menu screen shot (it is from a mac, but similar to PC)

Tip 1:  Don't print pages you don't need!
The colorful covers and instruction pages are beautiful and great, but do you really need to print them?  Instead of printing "all"  of the pages in a file, select only the pages you need.  Select pages from #__ to #__.  You can always flip through the pages in the preview to make sure you selected the right pages.

Tip 2:  Do you really need to print it in color??
Some things are great in color, but if you are going to copy it in black and white why not print in gray scale?

Tip 3:  Make sure it all fits on the page!
I always make sure the "scale to fit" is selected.  This usually solves many problems of the printouts not looking quite right.  If images are being cut off or if it is way off center, this may solve many problems.

Tip 4: Save paper if you can, print multiple sheets on one page.
Did you know you can get several pages per paper with out shrinking them on the copy machine!  Select the number of copies per page you want directly on the print menu.  Depending on your printer, you may also be able to print front and back on the paper.

I hope this helps a few people.  I know when someone shared a few of these tips with me, I was like "well why didn't I think of this?"

It is Manic Monday!  Here is a Freebie that is "SNOW" cute and perfect for this weeks Word Work.  It is a snowman color by code.  Normally I find these with beginner sight words, this one has more advanced words.  Even though my firsties are reading more and more words, they still love to color by codes.  (In fact if you use Storytown for Grade 1, they may just match Lesson 15.)  Click here to download it.
